Review: The Lucky One (Nicholas Sparks)

So I in my last post I said I bought 'The Lucky One' by Nicholas Sparks, and that day I read like 40 pages and then I got tired and went to bed, not much had happened at that point, it was more setting the scene and getting to know the characters. However, This morning I woke up and thought, I'm going to read! So I read. All of it.

Yep, I read the whole thing for five hours straight. I loved it. If you don't know, its about an ex-US marine (Logan Thibault) who finds a picture of a girl (Beth) while on tour, and then he sets out to find her after he feels it brought him good luck. That part's pretty predictable, he finds her and they fall in love, (I think the cover and blurb pretty much spoil that one for you, don't blame me), but that is not fully the main part of the story, and I'm not going to tell you anything else plot-wise because then I would be to blame for spoiling, but let's just say its gooood (you'll have to read it to see what I mean).

Between Thibault's memories and accounts of his past, Beth's... situation, and the bonds you see between the characters (...and the conflicts), this is a really good, all round story. It's not too soppy, but its got that air of drama and suspense. Its also pretty funny at times, and it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud at words on a page. All in all, I would recommend this book, and I'm definitely going to be getting more of Sparks' novels to waste my days with.

It's safe to say I'm pretty desperate to see the movie now too, although I'm really not sure, from reading it, if Zac Efron fits the bill for Thibault, I guess I'll have to watch and find out...  I do know that movies always infuriate me after I've read the book first (or if I read it second), so we'll have to wait and see on that one.
